Honeymoon Track

Quick facts: Length: roughly 22km · South bank, near Sambiya River Lodge · Newer route, developed with a translocation programme starting January 2016

What makes it different from the north bank tracks

Unlike Buligi, Queen's, Victoria, and Albert — all on the busier north bank — Honeymoon Track sits on the south bank, close to Sambiya River Lodge, and offers a genuinely quieter, less-trafficked safari experience. Wildlife density here is lower than the north bank's prime circuits, but that's part of the appeal: fewer other vehicles, and a stronger sense of solitude in the bush.

The wildlife story

Elephants, buffalo, and giraffe seen along this track were translocated here from the north bank starting in January 2016, specifically to build up the south bank's game-viewing potential and give south-bank lodges a genuine game drive option without crossing to the other bank. The track connects to the Kob and Hartebeest loops, which run through thicker woodland and bush toward the top of the falls.

Best for

Travellers staying at south-bank lodges who want a game drive without crossing the river, and photographers who prioritise a quieter setting over the highest possible sighting density.
